Patriots: 'No timetable' for Rob Gronkowski's return
The Patriots issued a statement clarifying the status of Rob Gronkowski on Tuesday and said they have "no timetable" for the tight end's return to the field.
The team also confirmed that Gronkowski suffered a "bone bruise/sprain of his right knee" in Sunday's loss at Denver.
The Herald had reported Monday that the recovery time for Gronkowski's injury was 1-2 weeks. ESPN reported he would miss "multiple weeks."
That the Patriots issued their statement in conjunction with Gronkowski's family indicates the two sides are working together.
“During Sunday night’s game, Rob Gronkowski sustained a bone bruise/sprain of his right knee," the statement read. "His status will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis and listed accordingly on the practice participation and injury reports. There is no timetable for his readiness to return, which will be determined in the days or hours prior to the appropriate game. Any timetable reported prior to that final determination would be speculative.”
