A bomb threat was called into Loma Linda University Medical Center, where patients from a mass shooting in nearby San Bernardino were being treated Tuesday.
The threat was phoned in at 2:40 p.m., according to a brief statement from the hospital, which is the only Level I trauma center in the Inland Empire.
Classes at the teaching hospital in Loma Linda were cancelled, and students were urged to leave public areas of the campus.
Law enforcement was working to screen the hospital campus to ensure safety.
Following a K-9 search, the "code yellow" alert connected to the threat was lifted after 3:30 p.m., a spokeswoman said.
Five adult patients from the deadly shooting at the Inland Regional Center were being treated at the hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Two were critical but stable, two were fair, and one was still being assessed, medical center spokeswoman Briana Bird Pastorino said shortly after 5 p.m.
Pastorino would not confirm if a police officer wounded in a shootout with suspects was at Loma Linda.
Fourteen people were killed and 17 injured in the shooting, which was first reported about 11 a.m.
