A Paris-bound Air France flight from San Francisco was diverted to Montreal late Monday due to what the airline described as an "anonymous threat".</div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
The airline said Flight 83 landed at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport without incident and local authorities were inspecting the plane. Air France described the early landing as "a precaution."</div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, the Boeing 777 took off from San Francisco International Airport shortly after 3 p.m. local time and was due to land in Paris Tuesday morning. </div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
Passenger Thomas Serval posted pictures of the inside of the cabin as passengers were taken off in small groups. Officials at the Montreal Airport told Canadian media the flight was carrying 231 passengers and 15 crew members. </div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
<img src="http://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/1470162/air-france.jpg?w=736" /></div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
The aircraft was the third Air France flight to be diverted in less than a month due to threats. On the night of Nov. 17, two Paris-bound flights received anonymous telephoned bomb threats. One flight, originating from Los Angeles, was diverted to Salt Lake City; the other, from Washington Dulles Airport, was diverted to Halifax, Nova Scotia. </div>
<div style="background: 0px 0px rgb(244, 244, 244); box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 24px; padding: 0px;">
U.S. and Canadian authorities gave both flights the all-clear after searching the plane and the passengers. The earlier threats came four days after ISIS terrorists killed 130 people in a series of coordinated shootings and bombings across Paris.</div>

So far, says assistant F.B.I. director <strong>David Bowdich,</strong> terrorism has not been ruled out, but San Bernardino police chief <strong>Jarrod Burguan</strong> suggested the incident could have been a workplace dispute that turned violent.<br />
Farook, 28, and his new wife, 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik, both died
after a car chase and a shootout with the police, leaving behind a
6-month-old child. (The two wed after an online courtship, with Farook
going to Saudi Arabia to meet her.) An officer was wounded as well, but
is expected to make a full recovery.<br />
According to the <em>Los Angeles Times</em>,
the shooting occurred during Farook’s office holiday party, held in a
rented room in the Inland Regional Center. Disappearing during a group
photo, Farook soon came back with his wife, heavily armed and wearing
tactical gear, and began firing into the crowd of co-workers.<br />
Colleagues were shocked and confused that Farook would do such a thing, with one telling the <em>L.A. Times</em>
that he appeared to be “living the American dream,” and another saying
that the office had thrown a baby shower for him recently.<br />
Farook left the party “under some circumstances that were described as angry,” said Burguan.<br />
Family members also told the press that they were blindsided by the
attacks: in a press conference held at the L.A. chapter of the Council
of American-Islamic Relations, Farook’s brother-in-law <strong>Farhad Khan</strong>
expressed his condolences and said he had “no idea why he would do
something like this. . . . I am in shock myself.” CAIR officials also
vigorously condemned the shooting.<br />
Farook’s father, also named <strong>Syed Farook,</strong> told the <em>New York Daily News</em> that his son was “very religious.”<br />
Vocativ reports that while extremists on ISIS-affiliated Web forums celebrated the shooting, they did not take responsibility for it.<br />
Farook and Malik used four firearms—two assault rifles and two
handguns—and so far authorities have determined that at least two of
those guns were purchased legally.<br />
The shooting shut down much of San Bernardino on Wednesday afternoon,
with all city schools and government buildings placed on lockdown and
the public advised to stay indoors. Several witnesses told the <em>L.A. Times</em>
how they watched the day unfold, from the disbelief that a shooting was
actually occurring in their hometown (“It’s shocking that it’s right
across the way,” a local tech worker said) to the desperate attempts to
find loved ones. <br />
In a statement that echoed the dozens of similar statements he gave this year, <strong>President Barack Obama</strong>
acknowledged the victims and their families, and added: “The one thing
we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this
country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.”afifudinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01048646754225817406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061385452980562469.post-24959830954532880582015-12-03T13:19:00.002-08:002015-12-03T13:19:49.420-08:002 San Bernardino shooting suspects killed by police in gun battle <img alt="https://cbssanfran.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/gettyimages-499664558.jpg?w=420&h=280" src="https://cbssanfran.files.wordpress.com/2015/12/gettyimages-499664558.jpg?w=420&h=280" /><br />
A man and a woman suspected of carrying out a shooting at a social
services facility in San Bernardino, Calif., have been killed after a
gun battle with police. The shooting left at least 14 people dead and 17
injured.<br />
<br />
Police said the suspects entered the Inland Regional Center and
opened fire shortly after 11 a.m. PT on Wednesday and fled the scene in a
black SUV. A possible explosive device was later found at the facility.<br />
Hours after the shooting, a tip led police to a residence in the
nearby community of Redlands, Calif., where they observed a dark SUV
leaving the area.<br />
<br />
<br />
A police pursuit ensued, and officers engaged in gunfire with the two
occupants of the vehicle that left the black SUV riddled with bullets
and the two suspects dead.<br />
San Bernardino police Chief Jarrod Burguan said a man and woman were
found inside the SUV, dressed in "assault-style clothing" and armed with
assault rifles and handguns<br />
<br />
<br />
One officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shootout.<br />
Burguan late Wednesday identified the suspects as Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, a 27-year-old woman.<br />
Farhan Khan, who is married to Farook's sister, told reporters he
last spoke to his brother-in-law about a week ago. He said he was in
shock and had "absolutely no idea why he would do this."<br />
<span>A third person was seen running away after the gunfire in the
shootout, but by the end of the day authorities had seemed to clear that
person of involvement, indicating they believed the two suspects
publicly identified carried out the attack.</span><br />
At a news conference earlier Wednesday, Burguan said the attackers
"came prepared to do what they did, as if they were on a mission."<br />
He said police don't as yet have a possible motive.<br />
<br />
The Inland Regional Center serves people with disabilities, helping
them find jobs, housing and transportation, along with a range of other
services.<br />
But the attackers opened fire in a conference area that the San
Bernardino County department of public health had rented out for a
holiday banquet, said Marybeth Feild, president and CEO of the facility.<br />
Melinda Revas was on the third floor of one of the facility's buildings, and described the chaotic scene to CBC's Kim Brunhuber.<br />
"A co-worker came out and started yelling, 'Oh my God, there's a
shooting, there's a shooting. Oh my God, somebody got shot," she said.<br />
Revas said she and dozens of others barricaded themselves in a
conference room for at least 20 minutes, propping furniture against the
doors.<br />

A bomb threat was called into Loma Linda University Medical Center,
where patients from a mass shooting in nearby San Bernardino were being
treated Tuesday.<br />
The threat was phoned in at 2:40 p.m., according to a brief statement
from the hospital, which is the only Level I trauma center in the
Inland Empire.<br />
Classes at the teaching hospital in Loma Linda were cancelled, and students were urged to leave public areas of the campus.<br />
Law enforcement was working to screen the hospital campus to ensure safety.<br />
Following a K-9 search, the "code yellow" alert connected to the threat was lifted after 3:30 p.m., a spokeswoman said.<br />
Five adult patients from the deadly shooting at the Inland Regional
Center were being treated at the hospital, a spokeswoman said.<br />
Two were critical but stable, two were fair, and one was still being
assessed, medical center spokeswoman Briana Bird Pastorino said shortly
after 5 p.m.<br />
Pastorino would not confirm if a police officer wounded in a shootout with suspects was at Loma Linda.<br />
Fourteen people were killed and 17 injured in the shooting, which was first reported about 11 a.m.afifudinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01048646754225817406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061385452980562469.post-26218516908443602912015-12-02T23:14:00.000-08:002015-12-02T23:14:01.998-08:00Two suspects die is shootout with police after California gun attack <img alt="https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_908w/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2013/03/01/National-Enterprise/Images/517024644.jpg&w=1484" class="shrinkToFit" height="610" src="https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_908w/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2013/03/01/National-Enterprise/Images/517024644.jpg&w=1484" width="940" /><br />

A man and a woman suspected of taking part in a gun attack at a social services agency in California,
died in a shootout with police, several hours later. A third person was
detained running away, it’s not clear if they were involved in the
attack <br />
Fourteen people died in the shooting, 17 more were injured.
Police immediately launched a massive manhunt which led them to the
town of Redlands where they found the <span class="caps">SUV</span> vehicle used by the suspects to flee the shooting scene.<br />
The attack took place in San Bernardino on the campus of the Inland
Regional Center – it’s a facility run by non-profit organisations for
people with developmental disabilities. Around 600 people are employed
at the site, which provides community care facilities for 30,000 people
in the local community.<br />
The injured were taken to local hospitals. Their condition is
unclear, a number some are said to be in a critical but stable
condition. Others are being treated for minor injuries sustained in the
crush as they had tried to escape.<br />
Witnesseses said the attackers appeared to have been well prepared. They wore assault dress and were heavily armed. <span class="caps">NBC</span> news has reported that one of the suspects has been identified as Syed Farook but this is as yet unconfirmed.<br />
<br />
<br />
Police will not comment on whether this was a terrorist attack.
However the bomb squad is investigating suspected packages at the
disability centre which they believe may by explosive devices.<br />
Responding to the attack Democratic presidential candidate Hilary
Clinton took to social media to call for more gun regulation.
Billionaire Donald Trump commended the bravery of the California police,
while fellow Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has expressed
his condolences to the victims’ families.afifudinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01048646754225817406noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061385452980562469.post-6820934277311041042015-12-01T20:20:00.001-08:002015-12-01T20:20:25.445-08:00Adele Dries a Toddler's Tears Through Song: WatchAdele has the opposite effect on toddlers: She makes them <em>stop</em> crying.<br />

looks like under that blonde mop? Sometimes, ignorance is more than just
bliss<br />
<br />
<img alt="https://nyppagesix.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/sia-1.jpg?quality=100&strip=all" class="shrinkToFit" height="610" src="https://nyppagesix.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/sia-1.jpg?quality=100&strip=all" width="1050" /><br />
<br />
<br />
Please Sia, don’t show us your face.<br />
It’s not because I don’t want to see Sia’s face that I make this
impolite request. It’s just that I’d prefer to enjoy Sia’s music
uninhibited by how sexy she is or isn’t, by how beautiful she may or may
not be, by whether she has a big nose or thin lips. I don’t need to
know any of this to be totally captivated by her voice, to get
goosebumps watching her videos, to cry again and again while listening
to Chandelier. <br />
Sia – who since her meteoric rise to fame hasn’t shown her face in
public – has been on Ellen wearing the trademark blonde wig that covers
most of her face. The marketing geniuses behind the show have released a
clip ahead of the episode being aired that shows Ellen asking Sia to remove it.<br />
<br />
Would you please, when you’re performing, take your wig off and let
people see you because you’re beautiful and I want people to see what
you look like.”
<br />
But what if Sia wasn’t beautiful, Ellen, would you still encourage
her to show her face in front of the world? Would you still be her
friend? <br />
I love Ellen. In fact, up to now, I actually thought it impossible
for Ellen to do anything wrong, ever. But when I saw this clip I was
furious. Why should Sia be pressured to show her face when she performs?
Why should she have to show all of herself in order to be accepted? Why
should she have to subject herself to all the ridicule and judgment
that every woman in the public eye – and even those who aren’t – has to
deal with?<br />
Has Ellen ever demanded that Daft Punk reveal their faces “because they’re beautiful?” I haven’t checked but I don’t think I need to. <br />
I have admired Sia’s determination to save something of herself from us. Of course, she <em>has</em>
shown her face: before she shot to global stardom, she was already a
successful musician, and has written many hit songs for other global
stars including Beyonce, Rhianna and Britney Spears. It’s easy enough to
find full frontal photos of her face with a quick internet search.<br />
But I’ve never looked myself because Sia’s explanation is enough for me, which she outlined in a column for Billboard:<br />

I’ve always interpreted her decision, in the face of global

The Patriots issued a statement clarifying the status of Rob
Gronkowski on Tuesday and said they have "no timetable" for the tight
end's return to the field.<br />
The team also confirmed that Gronkowski suffered a "bone bruise/sprain of his right knee" in Sunday's loss at Denver.<br />
<aside id="related-content">
</aside>The Herald had reported Monday that the
recovery time for Gronkowski's injury was 1-2 weeks. ESPN reported he
would miss "multiple weeks."<br />
That the Patriots issued their statement in conjunction with Gronkowski's family indicates the two sides are working together.<br />

One played into the final hours of the Thanksgiving weekend, laughing
when a 3-pointer that would have kept his team in the game hit nothing
but air.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
The other stood at the same time on the sidelines on a snowy night in
Denver, watching a much younger replacement help his team find a way to
hand the New England Patriots their first loss of the year.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
<img alt="http://sar-cdn.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/story_slideshow_thumb/13252751.jpg" src="http://sar-cdn.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/story_slideshow_thumb/13252751.jpg" /></div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
<br /></div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Kobe Bryant was going somewhat willingly, finally accepting that after
20 years of long nights on the hardwood neither his body nor his team
were going to miraculously recover anytime in the near future. He could
afford to laugh at himself because his future is clear after years of
injuries and aborted comebacks.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Peyton Manning put his best game face on, but had to know his time is coming, if not here already. The Denver Broncos
seem smitten with their new quarterback, and even if Manning recovers
from his foot injury there's no guarantee he will get back on the field.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Both are in an awkward dance with Father Time that neither will win.
Bryant, though at least has the consolation of going out on his own
terms.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
It's not a bad way to end a great career. Bryant is still getting paid
an NBA-high $25 million to showcase his declining skills, and his
immediate future includes a trip around the league where he will surely
be serenaded by adoring crowds.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
It's a farewell tour he will enjoy, even if there has been little to
enjoy while watching Bryant and the hapless Lakers this year.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
"There's nothing I would love more than to be able to play this entire
season, to go through all of these tough times, to be able to suit up
and play on the road in these buildings for the last time," Bryant said.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
For Manning, there will be no sentimental swing around the league. There
rarely is in the NFL, where you're only judged on your last game and
there's always someone waiting in line to take your place.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Two iconic players. Two very different sports.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
A season that began with some promise for Manning went south quickly
when he was sidelined with a partially torn tendon in his foot. It's the
kind of thing that happens to an aging player, and there were already
plenty of indications Manning was nearing the end before he was
unceremoniously ushered to the sidelines to cheer his teammates on.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
It got worse Sunday night as he watched in the snow when Brock Osweiler
led the kind of comeback the Broncos were used to getting from Manning.
It came against the undefeated Patriots in prime time on NBC, and it may
have sealed Manning's fate.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Nothing personal, just the way the NFL does business. One day you're
breaking the NFL's all-time passing record, the next you're wondering if
you still have a job.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Tom Brady seemed to sense that when he met Manning at midfield before
Sunday's game to exchange pleasantries. Instead of the customary
handshake, though, Brady hugged his longtime rival.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Manning's victory lap will likely be from the bench. There's no public
outcry from the Broncos faithful for him to return, and the offense
favored by new coach Gary Kubiak doesn't suit his pass-happy talents.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
If this is the end for Manning, he'll leave a conflicted legacy. Yes,
he's the most prolific passer of all time, but with just one Super Bowl
title in 18 years he doesn't even own the most rings in his family.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Manning is a certain Hall of Famer, but when talk begins about the
all-time greats it starts with quarterbacks like Joe Montana and Brady.
They have four Super Bowl wins apiece, while Manning is 1-2 in the big
game, including a blowout loss to Seattle two years ago where he wasn't
even a factor.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
It's similar in a way for Bryant, even though his five NBA titles
elevate him to at least being in the conversation among the top 10 NBA
players ever. He will come up just short in his chase of his role model
Michael Jordan, while Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will likely
be rated above him by most as the greatest Lakers ever.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Still, Bryant leaves a legacy of sorts for his incessant work and the
way he played with a chip on his shoulder up until the end. He also
served as a role model of his own for countless other aspiring NBA
players, including LeBron James.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
"I wanted to be just like him, man," James said Tuesday.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
Both Bryant and Manning had great careers, yet both wanted more. They
desperately chased it even as the years began to run out and their
bodies began letting them down.</div>
<div itemprop="articleBody">
In the end they, like so many before them, couldn't find a way to beat Father Time.</div>

typically forthcoming when it comes to revealing any information that
they are not required to provide, so it was quite peculiar on Tuesday
afternoon when the team released a statement regarding the health of Rob
Gronkowski.
<br />
The tight end suffered a knee injury on Sunday night in
Denver, one that left him in clear and obvious pain and required a cart
to remove him from the field. Yet early reports indicated the injury was
not as serious as it seemed, and the Patriots’ statement on Tuesday
revealed that it’s a bone bruise/knee sprain.<br />
<img alt="https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/gronk.jpg" class="shrinkToFit" height="610" src="https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/gronk.jpg" width="915" /><br />
<br />
“During Sunday night’s game, Rob Gronkowski sustained a bone
bruise/sprain of his right knee,” the statement reads. “His status will
be evaluated on a week-to-week basis and listed accordingly on the
practice participation and injury reports. There is no timetable for his
readiness to return, which will be determined in the days or hours
prior to the appropriate game. Any timetable reported prior to that
final determination would be speculative.”<br />
That likely will serve as the final word from anybody in the Patriots organization until Gronkowski returns to the field.<br />
The statement comes from both the Patriots and the
Gronkowski family, a noteworthy detail, considering the Gronkowskis and
Patriots had disagreements three years ago regarding his arm injury.<br />
<br />
<br />
Gronkowski, 26, has played in all but one of the Patriots’ 30 games
over the past two seasons. In 11 games this year, he’s caught 57 passes
for 931 yards and nine touchdowns.<br />
The 10-1 Patriots can guarantee themselves the No. 1 seed in the AFC
by winning their final five games. If the Patriots lose one game and the
Bengals and Broncos win the remainder of their games, then tie-breaking
scenarios will come into play to determine the two teams to get a
first-round bye.<br />

<br />
The NSW and Queensland players in the Sheffield Shield match that
starts at the SCG on Friday will wear black armbands to commemorate the
one-year anniversary of Phillip Hughes' death.<br />
Cricket NSW chief
executive Andrew Jones said the commemoration was being kept low-key at
the request of both the Hughes family and the players because the pain
from last summer – when Hughes, aged 25, died in St Vincent's hospital
after being struck by the ball while batting for South Australia at the
SCG – was still raw.<br />
Members of the Australian and New Zealand
teams, along with those playing in the other shield matches around the
nation, will also sport armbands.<br />

<br /><br />Hemsworth took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal his dramatic weight loss transformation for his upcoming film <em>In the Heart of the Sea</em>, adding that he consumed as few as 500 calories a day to prepare himself for the role.
<br /><br />The Australian actor, 32 – who is known for his fit physique and
even landed PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive title in 2014 – looked
especially frail in the picture, showing off his ribs as he sported a
scraggly beard and cuts on his chest and face.
<br /><br />Hemsworth revealed that in order to film the shipwrecked scenes, he had to go on strict diet to drop the pounds.

<br />
Billionaire investor Carl Icahn said he may seek to shake up
leadership at American International Group Inc. after Chief Executive
Officer Peter Hancock rebuffed his plan to split the insurer into three
companies.<br />
Icahn will push for a measure that would enable
shareholders to communicate directly with the board and possibly seek
the addition of a director “who would agree in advance to succeed Mr.
Hancock as CEO if asked by the board to do so,” the activist investor
said in a statement on his website Monday.<br />
The statement
intensifies a conflict with AIG that began in late October, when Icahn
disclosed a stake in the New York-based company and mocked Hancock for
failing to meet the insurer’s return targets. Hancock, who became CEO
last year, has said AIG benefits from having a diversity of operations
and that separating into three would be harder than Icahn thinks because
of hurdles from regulators and credit-rating firms.<br />
“In
all of our discussions with Mr. Hancock it was abundantly clear to us
that he is not willing to take the bold steps that we, and so many other
shareholders, believe are long overdue,” Icahn said. “He failed to lay
out any alternative strategic plan with the potential to unlock value
for shareholders or to provide compelling reasons as to why these
businesses belong together.”<br />
The insurer rose 53 cents to $62.74
at 10:52 a.m. in New York trading. That compares with $60.92 on Oct. 27,
the day before Icahn sent a letter urging the company to split into
three separate entities, one selling life insurance, another offering
property-casualty protection, and the third backing mortgages.<br />
<h3>
‘No Sacred Cows’</h3>
Hancock, 57, told analysts this month that there are “no sacred cows”
as he seeks to narrow the company’s focus, meaning he would be prepared
to sell more units after divestitures in Central America and Taiwan and
the exit from an aircraft-leasing business. He said that separating
life and property-casualty segments could be negative for bondholders,
and reiterated that AIG has still been able to repurchase billions of
dollars of stock in recent years.<br />
The insurer said Monday that it
will “accelerate its previously announced strategy” and will provide
further details before reporting fourth-quarter results.<br />
“AIG
maintains an active dialogue with shareholders, including Carl Icahn,”
according to a statement from AIG. “Management and the board have
carefully reviewed a separation of AIG’s businesses on many occasions,
including in the recent past, and have concluded it did not make
financial sense.”<br />
Icahn disclosed in Monday’s statement that his
firm has more than 42 million shares of AIG. That would make him the
fifth-largest investor in the company, according to data compiled by
Bloomberg.<br />
<h3>
‘Too Important’</h3>
“AIG is too important, and the
current situation is too time-sensitive, to wait years,” Icahn said in
Monday’s statement. “In fact, we believe the current situation is too
time-sensitive to even wait until the company’s annual meeting next
spring, especially when all of the stakeholders who have reached out to
us believe management’s current plan (or lack thereof) is insufficient.”<br />
AIG
trades for less than book value, while the stocks of many of its
property-casualty insurance peers sell for more than the measure of
assets minus liabilities. The activist also said the insurer suffers
from being deemed a systemically important financial institution by the
U.S. government, which can add compliance costs and stricter capital
rules.<br />
Icahn cited in his October letter the support of
billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson, who also is among the
largest holders of AIG. Paulson & Co. could also support a plan to
sell life and mortgage insurance assets as an alternative to spinoffs,
people familiar with the firm’s thinking said earlier this month.afifudinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01048646754225817406noreply@blogger.com0
